Fated to Love You tells the story of a quirky rich chaebol and a timid office worker who accidentally have a one night stand that results in a pregnancy and one amazing love story. Oh how I adore Fated to Love You! This drama just hit so many sweet spots for me.
The first half is your standard romantic comedy that then transitions to more of a melodrama in the second half. Jang Hyuk is absolutely perfect for the role of Lee Gun.
He is so animated and off the wall with a very over the top comedic style. And then there’s the classic Jang Hyuk laugh!
It is prominently on display throughout this drama, and I love it to pieces! But the wonderful thing about Jang Hyuk is that he is just as amazing when it comes to being serious. Lee Gun goes through such a difficult time in the second half of the drama, and Jang Hyuk has the ability to bring forth such powerful emotions.
Contoh soal dan pembahasan matriks. He’s one of those actors that really conveys his feelings through his eyes. I’ve mentioned this before, but when he cries, I cry. His tears just always move me that much. He is simply an amazing actor.
Jang Na Ra plays our sweet and innocent Kim Mi Young perfectly. Despite being so timid and apologetic, she always comes off as likable. I couldn’t have chosen a better actress to pull that off so perfectly. And Jang Na Ra effortlessly delivers the emotional punches concerning her own heartfelt storyline.
But this couple together is absolutely adorable. They are one of my all time favorite kdrama couples because of their amazing chemistry, fun personalities, and the journey they go on together. They will always have a spot in my heart because of their wonderful love story. Our second male lead is Daniel Pitt (Choi Jin Hyuk). He’s that perfect guy who is always there for Mi Young no matter the circumstance. I actually really liked his chemistry with Jang Na Ra too. They had such a sweet relationship, and I always enjoyed him.
Se Ra (Wang Ji Won) is Lee Gun’s girlfriend when the drama begins. Luckily, for the most part, she is a pretty likable second female lead. She was caught in the middle of a bad situation and aside from one selfish attempt to hold on to Lee Gun, she does her best to move on. SPOILERS BELOW How I loved watching Gun and Mi Young prepare for the arrival of their baby in the first half of the drama.
They went through their share of challenges, but it always had a humorous tone. But things take a terrible turn when Mi Young miscarries. This initiates such a sad chain of events.
The drama explores both Gun and Mi Young’s grief in depth as they both frequently speak of the pain they are feeling in detail. Due in large part to that amazing intensity from Jang Hyuk, but also from the talented Jang Na Ra, I was a complete mess in the second half of the drama. Fated to Love You is officially the drama I have cried the most during.
From about episode 10 onward, I cried throughout a good chunk of every episode. But that is definitely not a bad thing. This drama was just able to move me so deeply because of it’s well developed characters and their engaging story. But even in the midst of tragedy, the drama still had plenty of feel good and fun moments.
Jang Hyuk continues to be quirky and his smile and laugh just livens things up. Then watching Gun and Mi Young reconnect was always a joy. Seriously, this couple is one of the best around!
For me, Fated to Love You is that perfect mix of comedy and melodrama. With an amazing love story, extremely talented actors, and such a heartwarming story, it truly is a special drama.
